« on: July 29, 2011, 02:55:05 AM »
I have some major problems.
-I cannot install the drivers for my Samsung SCX4300 printing machine.
-The setup for printers in the Control center doesn”t function. It simply wont open.
-The control center doesn”t close after it is opened.

If you've just updated, have you restarted your system?

What desktop are you using?

If it's KDE have you tried going to

KickOff Menu > More Applications > Configuration > Configure Your Printer
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

epoche, fire up Synaptic and install the package task-printing. This should provide all packages needed.

Restart Configure your Computer and you should be able to install your printer.

Had the same problem here. Not able to set up the printer. Thank You tschommer will give that a try.
Also it has the irritating habit of freezing after the screen saver has been on for say 30 Mins I have to hard boot the
machine. other than those two problems really would like to use this version.

Again, install task-printing, which should install the required packages.  also, it is an HP printer, install task-printing-hp as well.

Hi, Samsung SCX4300 being a multifunction, the meta package "task-printing-scanning" would even be more relevant. Of course, later you can remove the packages related to other brands that the meta package will automatically install.
