Open Office was working fine on my system before the system "update" that I just did destroyed (deleted) my working Open Office and replaced it with Libre Office which does not work.

Please see these screen captures: http://www.UpQuick.com/temp/libre.jpg at the conclusion of which, I saw the following message:

"The new LibreOffice locale is now available
from the submenus under PCmenu -> Office "

However, under PCmenu -> Office ... the only relevant option available is: LibreOffice Manager.

When I select that, it starts the installation all over again.  Thus, I have now ended up apparently completely reinstalling it FOUR times ... and I can still find no way to get it to work.

After doing 'updatedb' and using 'locate' to search for /libre ... the following list shows all of the files (the only files) found:

/lib/libreadline.so.5
/lib/libreadline.so.5.2
/lib/libreadline.so.6
/lib/libreadline.so.6.1
/lib/libresmgr.so.1.0
/lib/libresolv-2.12.1.so
/lib/libresolv.so.2
/usr/lib/librecode.so.0
/usr/lib/librecode.so.0.0.0
/usr/lib/libresolv.so
/usr/lib/compiz/libreflex.a
/usr/lib/compiz/libreflex.so
/usr/lib/compiz/libregex.a
/usr/lib/compiz/libregex.la
/usr/lib/compiz/libregex.so
/usr/lib/compiz/libresize.a
/usr/lib/compiz/libresize.la
/usr/lib/compiz/libresize.so
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libredmond95.so
/usr/lib/kde4/librenaudioplugin.so
/usr/lib/kde4/librenimageplugin.so
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/librecord.la
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/librecord.so
/usr/uclibc/lib/libresolv-0.9.30.1.so
/usr/uclibc/lib/libresolv.so.0.9.30.1

What do I need to do to get Libre Office to work?

"Open Office was working fine on my system before the system "update" that I just did destroyed (deleted) my working Open Office and replaced it with Libre Office which does not work"

openoffice was abandoned a long time ago, nobody supports it anymore and oracle said to everyone "get lost!"

this is why libreoffice replaced it

don't forget to keep your system updated btw, this libreoffice update happened a long time ago

Okay, now I see that "pinoc" has stated, as of today, that the Libre Office Manager is known to be not working correctly and he is working on remedies.  So, now that I understand this, I can be patient to wait for it to get fixed.  Thanks for all your efforts, pinoc. --Joe

Just adding this note to say that last night, I finally got a satisfactory installation of Libre Office on a new PCLinux installation.  Thanks pinoc.

Yes. It took me a year to finally get it working right.

no, after 45 days you should open a new post because after that period of time, probably no one will remember the post
