Not long now. :D

Gotta feel for the man - it must be (been) a hard slog doing package after package after package.

It'll be interesting to see which "benefits" come through from using a 64bit version over the 32bit one

Still, Texl will be everyone's "honey" now  ;)

I hope the 64-bit packages are worth all the hard work that Tex has put into them.

well, Texstar said that the gain is minimal but people complaining for the lack of this "vital" version of pclinux was something to consider

also remember that Texstar made a small poll asking our type of hardware(64 bit or not), i think that he took all that info in consideration and found this decision as the smartest one

if you take this in consideration, you don't have to hope, you can be sure, i am  ;)

"But the post-release reactions?"

you are talking about the distro working?  installed?

as Texstar said the differences are minimal and the results won't be that different

after each big release the forum gets a big amount of posts asking for help with the new release and then everyone goes back to sandbox

that or 2012 will kill us all and this won't matter  ;D

I can't answer for Tex. But, at least the naysayers can no longer say, "Well, there's no 64-bit version. Waaah. Waaah.  :'( :'( :'(

In my opinion, realize PCLinuxOS x86_64, can be a very good chance to have most x64 Processor user can use (and love) PCLinuxOS. A x64 Processor User, normally, like to have a x86_64 "distro" in his own PC...
Personally, for my individual experience (that's not a "law", but it's good for me), PClinuxOS 20011 LXDE Edition is the best "distro" I never have seen (the Phoenix Edition is at the second place). A x86_64 version of PCLinuxOS LXDE Edition can be a very good chance to have a lot of new Users.

Seems to me that the majority have been influenced by MS's refusal to allow their desktop users install the pae kernel .....  and thus I guess sell them a 'better' 64bit OS.  Most are not even aware that MS has had such kernels available for years.
