Well, my last thread about this was deleted for some reason & I never got an answer. I also asked in a related thread some time ago, but never got an answer. It has been said that the update notifier wouldn't be fixed because it was being replaced. What is replacing it? Now, the update notifier was fixed & I still have no idea what's going on. Is it still being replaced? Also, when is yum/yumex being released? Is it replacing synaptic? If anyone can give me some straight answers, I'd appreciate it!

Hummm, I can't find the posts concerning this subject. Seems there is more going on than meets the eye....this is not normal, so patience might be in orer here.  ??? :-\

update-notifier is in the repo. A search of the forum would find the thread in Packagers where it was tested after being redesigned.

Do you want it now? Or do you want it working? It requires tweaking to get it to work with our way of doing things. It will take time to get it set up/tweaked correctly, and there is no way to determine just how long that will take.

I think since Synaptic was made to work with a newer rpm, there is less urgency to switch. Also, Tex seems pretty busy with the 64 bit stuff.

I wasn't asking for a specific date when it would be ready, I'm sorry if it sounded that way. Of course, we all want a working product. I was just asking for an update on the progress.
