No root-nautilus in zen-mini_2011.7 [Solved]
« on: July 27, 2011, 06:01:22 AM »
When I try to run nautilus as root I get the following message

Code: [Select]
   gksu nautilus

(nautilus:17683): EggSMClient-WARNING **: Failed to connect to the session manager: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported

and nautilus crashes. I have to log out and back in as root ( :'( ) in order to achieve this. Can anyone help me out in trying to solve this glitch? Thanks.

You probably need dbus-launch nautilus not just nautilus.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Yes, you're correct. I still get the same error-message but at least nautilus doesn't crash and I can then edit a root-owned file (which was the object of the exercise  ;) ). Great; many thanks.  ;D ;D
