[SOLVED]Where did this stupid line that crosses the forum topic...?

...It only seems to have appeared on my computer in the last few days. Is it an X11 artifact, or more closely related to xconf? I have an ATI

No, I did not do a forum search. It's a forum problem on my nappy that only appeared a couple of days ago.I have an ATI Mobility HD 4650.

No previous problems displaying the Forum in Firefox. Current Firefox version is 5.0.1. It's no big problem--I rarely poll the forums for insignificant stuff. But it is somewhat irksome.

(additional info) using Ctrl+0 returns you back to the default zoom.  ;)

I have that line for at least 6 months now. ON and Off
As it doesn't bother me at all, I never said anything.
However, I looked at it briefly long ago, and it seems only to be in Firefox, not Opera

As I said, it doesn't bother me, so......... :D

I have just changed from Compiz to the native KDE 3D compositing today and this line has just showed up for me on the forum and on other sites too and I only use OPERA. I've never had this line before.

Ctrl +/- enlarges/reduces the font and does away with the line. Using the same commands to return to the original screen makes the line come back. (BTW, neither Ctrl-0 or Ctrl-O does anything regarding Firefox on my lappy. Haven't tried it in Konqueror or Conky.

I mean it doesn't really bother me...who knows, it might be my default font settings...just one of those niggling things you know...

You can also get smaller zoom (in / out) increments by using the Ctrl key + Mouse Wheel.

Additionally they can be modified in about:config and entering

toolkit.zoomManager.zoomValues

Edit - plus you could use the Firefox NoSquint Add-on

...the No Squint add on is a plus, but still does not remedy the original condition.

I really don't care about it, other than it's somewhat irksome.

However, if all those involved continue to troubleshoot it, who knows, we may ACTUALLY find a bug-fix. (P.S. My wife is a developer for that other OS, and wishes she had all the bug hunters available that Linux has. Just saying...we're doing something right...

In Firefox > Edit > Preferences > Content > Fonts and Colors >>> change the size of your default font to one lower.

You're welcome. If pages load with fonts too small, click the zoom in (+) icon on your firefox toolbar. That will increase the size of the pages, not just the font, so the stripe shouldn't come back.
