pCLI-NoX-Mini v2 (everybody has to have a 'mini' eh?)

Details

pCLI-NoX-Mini v2

iso:size  218.34mb

Download Link

MD5Sum: b7d1c33fb7a6d21710e52896055ef12c

Whats Different

v2 added  further basic usability functions and purpose by including

Lynx - THE text browser (secure/ssl capable)
wyrd - Calender app
photorec, foremost, ddrescue, dd_rescue. (aka the rescue package, hehe)

should be a fairly productive mix of apps , as can surf , read mail, send mail , creatte text and know what date it si etc...

After install initial RAM usage on my machines is <24megs

As a side project (to test scalablility) I am building a X based iso that after boot (installed) in a Graphical Environment consumes <41megs of RAM (running irssi) - if there is interest in this iso - when I have tidied it up - I can make it avaialable for use

Hi,

I wonder if you would be interested to try to build Tiny X for this purpose...

I found some clues on the web, although the latest code seems already old...

Mel,

I had thought of using tinyX/Kdrive but decided against adding the complexity it brings in getting it running correctly.

here is a screenie of the spin off (calling it "mX " for now) this may or may not be a publicly available version, just an example of where pCLI-NoX can go..

old-polack and admins, please feel free to move this if it's in the wrong section. I thought the subject matter was so appropriate to this cli-only remaster. If it needs a title, I suppose it would be "Life on the Command Line".

I "ran into" these articles, and I like the way this guy thinks. It's another spin on whether the CLI vs GUI is more efficient.

The first article is his CLI philosophy. In the second article, he gives samples of what could and should be, such as,

"Now, we could design a system that allows you to type:

    play "Teenage Dream"

and it would go find that song and play it."

At the end of the third article, he gives an example of the kind of interface he has been describing. It's food for thought.

This is exciting stuff as some have posted.   What needs are there right now on this project?  I have a system ready and time to work on this noX version.    Is there a mailing list and docs yet that can and will be shared?  Please PM me with any requirements for inclusion and access.
I am not affiliated with any other distro's beyond a user of a few. I hope we all don't get splintered up and reinvent the work efforts of each other.
