Phoenix 2011 minor issues

first of all great job Kori. I managed to get the .iso @ 12:06am EST and the first pics posted on LSF by 12:24  ;D.
so far the only problem I had was apparently it's not possible to install "gnome-games". there's an error message that pops up in synaptic once it tries to install. It goes by so fast is hard to read but it says something about "transaction package error..." , sorry I don't know what and where the error log might be.

otherwise, as I said, great job.  :)

well as it's gnome dependencies issues ... nothing to do with Phoenix and XFCE ... i would raise a broken package for gnome-games could be that the package needs to be rebuilt against the current gcc etc

I assume you are right. I think there are a few broken packages since the 2011 updates for various spins/DEs. I know I can't get Rhythmbox to work correctly in any of the 2011 releases so far. Just thought I would mention it.

edit: I mentioned this before with the phinx test but, in most of the guests I have with xfce 4.8, normally you can right click on a panel icon, choose properties, click on the edit the currently selected item, and you can change the icon etc. for some reason clicking on the edit icon does nothing.

I am still customizing this. I am very fond of XFCE and I'm uberhappy it's out.  ;D

I would like to mention a glitch I had with the new version.
After a problem free install, I connected to the internet. No problem.
I did a reboot, and my internet connection was not working.
So, tried this and that, but no go,
So, I went to control panel to reconfigure ( spontaneous reaction ) and there I saw that my login information was half gone

My normal login is ( say ) name@isp-address
What was visible was :  name      and   @isp-address was gone
Password section was also blank

So I wanted to retype it and I could not produce a < @  >
It was always < " > or  < ' >. Sorry, forgot already which one!
I checked all other characters and they were OK.

 I tried other keyboard layouts, but was unable to fix the problem

So, I decided to re-install from same CD on same partition, and all is fine now

So, I am not looking for help, but thought you should know

I think I am going to enjoy it. It's very fast.

your issue relates to the Keyboard locale you choose before the install ... the default for Phoenix and Phinx is UK ... you will have to set that up to US ;)

yes, I think you are right.
The second time I setup I saw that during setup, and auto choose the US without giving it a thought and didn't relate to yesterday's setup.

FYI: gnome-games is not broken, installs and works fine in gnome and new LXDE.

FYI: gnome-games is not broken, installs and works fine in gnome and new LXDE.

the issue here is in XFCE ... i can concur the error occurs ... and it looks like a few of the dependencies need to be rebuilt for the gnome-games ... it is broken ... put a message in the broken packages section ... as it looks like it all needs to be rebuilt against latest updates
