I thought that was what this thread was about.

Was about that ? It is about having it in the repositories...

You said it wasn't finding your network on newer openbox.

Almost right : it was not working on Bonsai updated, with the older version.

Hi,

I have apt-sources-update : Version: 0.3  Release: 3pclos2011 installed in my main system, but for new remasters the version was older, did not find the network (which does work) and once removed I can't find it anymore in the repositories.

I found one rpm of the same version as the one I have in my systems, and will try it on the latest Bonsai, the one which will be ready to go, and come back here say if it works.

Regards,
Mélodie

Out of context it means nothing. It was not working with the preceeding version. With the latest version it could work, but I could not try because it was not available anymore in the repositories.

/but I found one version in one of the slowest repos... so I'll be back to say if that one version works in the up to date Bonsai.

Ok Leiche, so I'll do the test I'm planning to later in the evening (have not had dinner yet) and will send you a mail after.

Good night/evening... Neal, Leiche.

Ok, I have theses 2:
apt-sources-update-0.3.1-1leiche2011.i586.rpm*
apt-sources-update-0.3-3pclos2011.i586.rpm*

I have tried both in Bonsai. As it's not the final version I have tried both, but without going till the end, and to the question "do you want to overwrite the sources.list file" I answered "no".

It looks like both do work well. In the final directory repos-speed-test created in the home of the user, there are differences in the final result : would you want me to send you an archive with both directories in it ?

Now I will try your version in my current install.
Trying...

Ok, I have allowed it to overwrite my current sources.list and now I can't see the PASS in Synaptic anymore : when I go look to the sources.list, new one and old ones kept under /etc/apt I can see that apt-sources-update has commented the pass repos with 2 '#' signs...

And... would it be possible to add a choice whether to activate or not the megagames repository ? If it was possible, that would be cool ! :)

Mélodie

Exactly! There should be two separate programs. One is to simply grab the current sources.list from ibiblio.org only if you are not using the PASS server and the other would be fast mirror update if you are not using the PASS server. These will be obsolete once yum and yumex is ready since it has plugins for fast mirror. I'm busy with 64-bit pclos so apt-sources-update is not a priority for me.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Hi Texstar, I saw your tweets, you have build many packages for 64bits and I understand it is not a priority. At same time it would be nice if you accept to leave a working version of this package in the repository for a while...

I don't want to provide support for this program anymore. I don't want to deal with it if/when updates break it. If leiche wants to provide support then it can be his baby.

I'd gladly test but I don't want to remove the "official" version from Synaptic because I'd loose it.
If you make your version installable to /home/<user> I'll install it and run it from there.

Hi,
To do that, put it in a directory of it's own, extract it with file-roller and find the script under usr/bin.
(ie : open a console in the same directory and invoke "./apt-sources-update" --without the quotes--)
