transferring Thunderbird Profiles
« on: July 16, 2011, 08:54:45 AM »
...from windows to PCLinuxOS.

All your settings, emails & accounts are in your profile.  So, in windows go to...
(C:\Users\login-name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\369s4yah.default)

Ctrl-A (copy all) files in this last folder.  Put them into a new folder on a usb-stick.

On the PCLOS side, open Dolphin, View..show hidden files.  Open the thunderbird folder.  Paste contents of "your" 369s4yah.default into PCLOS equivalent-equal-to of 369s4yah.default.

It will ask about over-writing, just do it.

Then open Thunderbird in PCLOS, and ALL your stuff is there...!

I have four emails just inside my local ISP.  They are a pain to do separately everytime I redo a Operating System.  This is a cool and great way for myself.

I fix a number of systems for people per year.  This procedure helps them a great deal... :)

Works fine, and I've used it several times.

But, from what I read, Mozilla is trying to make it easier, by implementing something similar to the Firefox Sync for a future Thunderbird release.

...and then remembering/writing-it-down, the long-winded number-letter for future reference...

One of the reasons why everybody on our network uses TB, disregarding the operating system.   ;D
