LXDE and Apwal
« on: July 16, 2011, 03:52:13 AM »
Installed Apwal, the app launcher in LXDE 2011.6 fully updated and didn't make an entry.

Tried from lxterminal and gave several errors, and something like "don't find icons" closed it and now when I type apwal just shows a question mark that disappears and no error lines.

I don't want to make an entry in broken packages since never used Apwal, does anybody has experience with this launcher?

Crow,
 ??? "something like" ???
Installed apwal to check. Launched from terminal.
Is this the message you got?
Quote
[neal@neal ~]$ apwal

(apwal:3635): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_window_set_cursor: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

(apwal:3635): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_window_set_cursor: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

** (apwal:3635): WARNING **: [iconlist.c:503] icon_list_append_children() scandir:-1, errno:2

After this, apwal  editor loaded, and there was a small window with the message, "Please wait. Scanning for Icons" to the left of it. The scan took a couple of minutes or so, but when completed, the editor was ready to use.

Yep, that was but it didn't find the icons now it just shows a "?" and then closes.

It shows the "?" here, too, but if you click on it, you can make changes. And there are "next/previous" type arrows to the right and left.

Launch it with apwal-editor, let it scan and try making changes or going to the next.

Right clicked the "?" and didn't work just send me to [xxxxxx@localhost ~]$,  after several tries it appeared the "searching icons".

It's working now  ;D

Thank you

Who said to right click? Just click on it (standard left click). The editing part will be above.

And so we live and learn.  Apwal.  The idea is neat as well.  Pity it isn't developed any more.
