A small headless PC with cheap DTT receiver/s would be more capable IMO.

I have tried 4-6 different DVB receivers and the HDHomerun is the only one that gives a strong signal with poor antenna conditions. If you have a proper antenna signal cheap DVB receivers normally work fine though,

another fine thing with HDHomerun is that it is not large in size, and can sit anywhere on the network - also all pc's on the network can use the tuner (on first come-first served basis), even wirelessly,

yes and it also depends on the tuner in the dongle .....  some are better than others in low signal conditions
I need a rooftop aerial to get any usable signal on commercial STBs in any case.

of course a small PC is also not large in size, can sit anywhere on the network, and if the signals are multicasted all PCs can access any and all channels simultaneously - LAN bandwidth permitting.

I also like the fact that I can hack the hardware .....  replace a tuner, or tweak the OS etc etc at little or no cost ......  the cost of a USB dongle tuner is between €6 and €20.
Other tuners could be added if required ....  cable or satellite ....

I would like to come across a reasonably priced device that would be as capable as a PC with a couple of dongles, I would probably buy it :D
