I use KDE 2011 and have the latest updates.
This morning I decided to use something else in the Sessions. I think it was Xfce. The internet worked fine.
Then I decided to switch back. I logged out and chose KDE in Sessions. I brought up Firefox, but the connection did not occur. I noticed that the signal at the bottom of the page saying I was connected was green. And also all the lights of the modem box were blinking as usual. I tried Konq and Chrome browsers and the same thing happened .. no connection.
I rebooted and tried all again. Still no connection.
So I booted into Windows. My booting back into Windows is always iffy as I have reported in another topic. After 2 tries I reached there and had to wait about 15 minutes for everything to settle. But I was connected and that is where I am writing from now.
I am wondering why I did not have connection in Linux even though the signals showed I was connected.
Of course something may have happened in between the time I booted into Windows and I might just go back to Linux and everything will be fine. But since I have so much trouble going back and forth, I will not return to Linux until I receive an answer.
Someone might tell me to check this or that if I still don't connect. Of course if it starts getting dark here, I may have to return sooner. Don't like being out in the dark. Especially don't like being in Windows in the dark.
