Sorry, said I wouldn't update, but one of the packages to be updated was YAD, so I updated. Just installed Beta2. The "connecting repositories" (to paraphrase) notifier is a nice touch.

I did notice Beta1 version wasn't updating the time interval. In other words, the actual date and time to check for updates remained the same, even after changing the settings. Beta2 gets it right. And it read my previous values of popup=true and days=1.

Now to wait for some updates. Looks like you worked very hard on this, Leiche. I saw with the Beta1 version, I believe, you did a complete rewrite.

Notice, is it display that Update-Notifier is already running. Log out/in and it will work correctly...

Installed the last version and is working.

One thing may be not related to the script:
Running it from Terminal it gave a package error:

E: Conf Broken libnet-snmp25


An error occured verifying upgrade;
this may be caused by held packages.

Do NOT update!

Check synaptic or try again later.

After that I ran Synatic and it said will remove libnet-snmp15 and install libnet-snmp25. But no error output there after updates were finished.

(Now I'll blame Synaptic if something is bork )

One minor may be inconvenience:
After the error is found I am not with an option to tell update-notifier to check once again, except may be restarting it (yes I ran it after Synaptic finished it's work and was closed).

Sorry, Leiche. Build update-notifier-1.4.1Beta-1leiche2011.noarch.rpm isn't working for me if I choose Synaptic. Like scoundrel, if I choose apt-get, it works.

Just installed your newest beta package on my Openbox PC. It's using gksu, and the update went perfectly choosing Synaptic. So, it's either something peculiar to kdesu usage or something peculiar to using kdesu on LXDE desktop. I don't know. Two things:

1) On both LXDE and Openbox, when I get the "update-notifier" is already running message, logging out and back in doesn't do the trick. I have to reboot.
2) On Openbox, although the /etc/xdg/autostart/update-notifier.desktop file is created, it won't autostart at each login on Openbox. It's no big deal, though. I just add update-notifier-launcher & to ~/.config/openbox/autostart.sh.

1) You can use LXTASK to kill update-notifier, and sleep, now should start it again...

I'm not sure, if you like htop, so use htop, i work only on lxde, and use lxtask

ps.: to fix kdesu i install kde mini in my VBOX

Now fix it, and note:
Some description can't translate until to broke a command like kdesu or gksu , my brain is exploding...
