<SOLVED> Booting Message
« on: July 11, 2011, 10:54:17 AM »
Running Dell Latitude D620, 1,5g RAM

After downloading 2011.6, burning iso, and checking md5sum, I installed. It works great....
There is a one line message that flashes so fast I cannot read it, just after grub screen. All I can get is something is "Conflicting."  A similar one flashes later.

Since all seems OK, I just wondered how I might "capture" this message to check.

Thank you,
Newlife

It is a harmless message saying there are no old stale suspend to disk files to delete.

Is it the message that says "Cannot open the file delete" ? I also found strange this message... with a meaning out of reach. :]

I'm getting this 'cannot open file delete' message too (in verbose mode).  I wouldn't normally worry about it, however, for some reason 2011.07 takes over 90 sec to boot, the message 'cannot open file delete' consuming about a minute fifteen of that time.

Hi,
I must say I also find weird that the boot seems slower than it used to be. I didn't take time yet to find out what causes this, but will look/count how much time this message stays.

I think it has something to do with the method of installation.  I selected "Install PCLinuxOS" directly from the live cd menu, and it installed wonderfully enough.  It did, however, reckon my first hard drive as sdb and my second as sda.  All my linux partitions (two of them) are on the second hard drive, and I'm thinking that it had something to do with the fstab entries that were created as a result of this occurrence and the boot process was 'trying to find the partition' (dunno).  I solved the problem by reinstalling from the live cd desktop (the first option on the live cd menu), and lo, sda turned out to be my first hard drive and sdb my second.  A reboot later, no more 'cannot open file delete' message.

Solved, as far as I'm concerned.

Hi,

I still get this file. I didn't install with any particular method, just straighforward method. I get this in console:

Code: [Select]
# find . -name "delete"
./sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.3/host6/target6:0:0/6:0:0:0/delete
./sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.1/host4/target4:0:0/4:0:0:0/delete
./sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0/delete
find: `./home/melodie/.gvfs': Permission non accordée

I there anything I can do to get rid of the message and speed up the boot ?

Thanks,
Mélodie
