something hosed my install...
« on: July 09, 2011, 04:07:52 PM »
I just tried to update my LXDE 2011.6 install and something went badly wrong. first of all it seem to hang installing adobe flash player then I had all sorts of messages saying it couldn't write to various places it wanted to because they were locked. Then when i tried to reboot I had errors and had to run fdsk manually. I just told it to fix everything because I had no idea what should be fixed or not. then when I rebooted after that and opened synaptic I get this...

I cut some of the errors out because it was so long. basically they all say the same thing, just different packages.

so is this install hosed and needs reinstalled or can I fix it
thanks

thanks. that got rid of the error message in synaptic but I don't understand what went wrong. why /var/ something something was locked, read only. etc. and will I have the same issue next time I need to update something?

thanks again.

Check in Synaptic that you don't have two repo mirrors checked.

nope, just the one...but I did notice some of the dups were 2010 packages even though I had the 2011 versions already installed.

Then try again... Reload --> Mark All Upgrades --> Apply and again Apply from the confirmation window.

I did that after I ran dupclean, it showed no updates. It's probably fine now. if not, I can always reinstall.
