...This is a SOLVED instance from prior multiple postings = Tex had informed of kernel 2.6.38.8 -
2.. today.
Found my pertinent info here:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ndiswrapper/index.php?title=Toshiba_A105-S2081.............From the INFO there:
Switched from ATH_PCI (Madwifi) to Ndiswrapper because this one is so intermittent, and the signal is so weak comparing with other OS (Windows XP). Sometimes the network goes down, apparently without motif. Visited client today. Ran 2011.06 LXDE live cd. Plugged into ETHERNET dsl.
Opened Synaptic, reloaded, and saw ATHEROS related packages that were not "checked"...APPLYied : both madwifi pkgs and ndiswrapper-net5211...- Unplugged the ETERNET DSL.... waited a bit....
Opened network and internet in PCC. > manage network devices > Wireless(wi-fi) > select network interface > {wlan0 - Atheros AR2413 802.11bg } was selected, SOOO I changed it to {use a windows driver with ndiswrapper}....> choose a ndiswrapper driver, and i chose : "net5211" -
then asked if i am sure you want to use this because it is already configured with the 'athk' *driver.. {*which did'nt work on this LXDE version - for some ODD reason I dont know..} and i answered : YES. > choose network to connect to > Congratulations - the network and internet configuration are finished...AND IT WORKS NOW!

I hope this helps somebody . I really do not know what exactly IS DIFFERENT in the WI-FI -from 2010.12 to this 2011.06 version,
but it seems RELATED with the ORDER or placement of some DRIVER information somewhere..... It autodetected with 2010.12, and with this new CD it does'nt.

This can be marked as
SOLVED - for fixing the LAPTOP, but not completely understood
WHY the different methodology was now necessary, and might be attributed to the actual DRIVER and not PCLOS.
My Handicapped client is happy, anyway - and
thats what matters...{she thinks I'm a genius, and i might let her continue to think that...}
