Easy question from Beginner - minimizing apps

Hello - I just installed PCLinuxOS yesterday on a Dell D530 laptop.  I had previously been running Fedora, but not for very long.  I am very impressed with this distribution and plan to stick with it.  Thanks so much for all of the effort that went into it.  I am very new to Linux and look forward to learning from this forum.

I am running the KDE desktop version.  When I minimize an app, it does the genie effect to the center of my desktop and disappears.  There is no icon at the taskbar telling me that the app is still running.  I don't know where to look to find the app again to maximize it.  My question is this - how do I get apps to minimize to the taskbar instead of disappearing?  I want to see icons of my running apps on the taskbar.

Hi SCsailor - big welcome the best forum in town and wonderful, stable world of PCLinuxOS.

I want to see icons of my running apps on the taskbar.

First, right click the panel/taskbar and select the Unlock Widgets - they may now appear.

If not, - again with the Widgets unlocked - click the Cashew icon, select Add Widgets and do a search (or look under Categories > Windows & Tasks) for the Smooth Tasks Widget - when you've found it place it in your bottom panel and all the minimized icons should show up there (I don't think it's necessary but you may need to restart your desktop)
