hp laptop new install connected before, now does not
« on: June 30, 2011, 03:54:41 PM »
Hi,

I helped a good friend install PCLOS 2011.6 on her hp laptop a few days ago. It connected to the Internet (wireless) off the live disc, so I did the full install.  After the install it worked as well, updating from Synaptic and getting Libre Office.  The next day she called to tell me her laptop no longer connects.

Sure enough, even with a re-install the network does not even show up on her machine, much less connect.  She cannot recall dropping the laptop or anything else that might have caused the wireless connection to no longer work.

What can I do now to help her get back online?

I did this myself on my HP laptop once ... check to make sure the wireless card is turned on ... my dv9700 has a slide switch on the front near the led for the wireless and once without knowing I hit it and for a few days I could not figure out why ....lol ... like they say... always check the simple stuff first    ;D

What wireless card does the laptop use?
