updated, then restarted and now the touchpad is not useful

it converted into a vertical and horizontal scrollwheel, all the surface

i'm posting this from the livecd

i found a post made by Texstar talking about some fixes but not sure which one could help on this case

If it was me, I would start with Solution 1 and if that did not work I would try Solution 2. Or start with Solution 2 and then try Solution 1. or copy the file from the LiveCD which is Solution 2. to the hard drive install.

does this involve the use of a gui? the mouse can't be used and my system is set to depend on the mouse

can i just add the lines to the file?

ok, thank you for your help Texstar

option 2 was the answer

from what i could compare from my 50-synaptics.conf file, the values were the problem

the update for some reason modified the values to 100 and 120 and the system interpreted that as only the upper left corner as the surface to be used by cursor and the rest for scrollwheel

nice to know that i can play with those values

I used this thread to get my Thinkpad's touchpad working a few days ago, and then had to reinstall.  Now the link to the solution isn't working.  Where can I find the solution again?

it seems that Texstar deleted it, perhaps he could paste the 5 solutions again in the main page?
