I just ran the lomanager to get the LibreOffice 3.4.1. For some weird reason it hangs on the Getting LO-help packages step.

I have few "Job finished" entries in the Konsole. It shows that the download was completed (0 seconds left) yet the download bar is just hanging there... There is plenty of space on my hdd. Internet connection is stable. I am running 2010.12 fully upgraded with kde 4.6.5 and 38.8 a64 kernel.

Any ideas folks?

Andy

Hi Andy,

just installed LO Polish, which properly downloaded and installed the En_US + Polish packages and help files. The only explanation I have for your download bar hanging is that your Internet connection seems to be hanging at that moment? Is that possible? Or try to first install the EN-US version and that run lomanager again to add the Polish LO-locale.
best,
-p.

Just did a complete removal and installation without issue so it may be a bad connection between you and the libreoffice mirrors.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Hi Pinoc.

I am running English British version of LibreOffice... Sorry about the confusion I SHOULD mention it...

I got error about internet being down after over 20 mins of waiting. For some reason my Wlan card died? I mean it was there but it was not connected and nothing but full reboot could fix it. Interesting. This happened to me few times now during the LO installation... It's either the ath9k module or it's the hardware failure... Extremely weird. Rerunning the lomanager as I am typing this.

Will see how it goes this time...

Andy

This is what it looks like.

I was able to upload this image... so internet works.

I am trying to install it for a 8 or 9 time now. It always hangs in the same place...

Andy,
just installed LO British English and it works just fine. Since lomanager will just download the packages from the LO-website my only explanation is that they may do an automatic redirect to a local server, i.e., I may be redirected to a European and you to a American server, maybe...
Can you try to download the needed package directly from here to see if that works at least?

Andrzej,
try to run lomanager as root, I suppose there's more output in terminal in this case.

no there is no more output, unless you run
Code: [Select]
lomanager --debug, anyway we know what the problem is.

Great it removed the older version of LibreOffice... It won't install and it won't give me any output about errors in a konsole even with --debug on... I have limited download quota and I am not sure how much does it downloads each time... but I tried at least 10 different approaches which gives me 10 x i don't know 100 MB? It's a gig gone... Don't know what the issue is but so far it left me baffled with no office on this machine and with a gig less of my download quota...

Don't get me wrong. I am not complaining about the script You know I love the distro. I am just moaning about the general situation which is not making me happier...

Hi Andy,

I also struggled with lomanager earlier because the mirror I get my updates from didn't sync sufficiently to give me the newest lomanager 3.4.1, which will then download libre office 3.4.1  I still had lomanager 3.4 which went through all the motions but downloaded - nadda.

Maybe find a different mirror, make sure you are updated to lomanager 3.4.1 and have another go.  If that solves it I can assure you that none of your traffic is used by the other, unsuccessful attempts.

Holding thumbs, buddy !!!

aside of installing Java (if that is missing) lomanager does not use any of our repo mirrors but will download the LO-packages from the LibreOffice servers. That means whatever local repo you use in Synaptic, it doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is that you use the current version of lomanager which corresponds to the current version of LO.
Andy, your problem is that you can not fully download one package which others can download, i.e. I can. This is a problem of your Internet connection, or the LO-download server, or, or, I don't quite know. But I will upload a LO3.4.1 offline installation later today and then send you a PM once it is in my dropbox. Then you can download and install this offline installation, will be the EN-US version. Sadly I don't know what else I could do to help you out.  :-\

As time came by, so did the new LO and ... lomanager. Whatever was the problem it was, it is meanwhile "auto-solved"  ;)
Got now LO 3.4.1 running like a charm. Just by the usual updates and running the new lomanager.
SOLVED!
