Canuck,
I think that I found the same difficulty with the live disk in that the changed resolution didn't want to remain. However, once I had installed to the hard disk, I changed the resolution in PC Control Center - not KDE Control Center.
The displayed settings in PCC > Hardware > Configure video card are:

Graphic Card   Intel 810 and later
Monitor  Flat Panel 1366 X 768
Resolution  1366 X 768 24 bpp

These settings now operate each time on bootup.

So Canuck, I think you will be able to resolve the problem there. Good luck,

Jim

Yes, when I go to PCC, Configure your Computer>Hardware>Configure Video Card    I am presented with a variety of resolutions including the one I want:  1366 x 768.
I can select that resolution, but as expected a 'Reboot' is necessary.    However, I cannot simply log and and log in again to accomplish the 'reboot'.    Am I correct in assuming, therefore,
that I cannot change the resolution as long as I am using a LIVE disk.   If this is the case, then I would like to know and will await the release of the 64 bit version before I install 2011.6.
Thank you for help in understanding what is the case with the live disk.

If you only changed resolutions and NOT the driver, you can simply logout of the session and login again. You do not need to reboot. A reboot is needed if you change video/audio drivers. So you should be able to set and use your correct resolution during Live Mode. But you'll need to set it up everytime you use the LiveCD until you have installed.
