As the sole user of my system I have never had any use for sudo.  Adding the 'special' section to a repository would mean that you also receive upgrades from that section which are not necessarily ready for use.  Hiding sudo there seems to be a clumsy solution.

it's not hidden ... it's placed there as it is a specialist app for this distribution ... it is not mainstream and is not supported by the community ... by all means if you want Sudo install it and configure it yourself ... but dont ask for help about it ... if you want help with it aswell go on over to Buntu ... im sure they will welcome you with open arms into their unsecure environment ... and tell you the evils of Su and the dustro's that use it ...

Points to remember ...

1) It's not installed as default

2) it's placed in a seperate area for advanced users who know how to use and configure it to install and use

3) it is not a supported process by the forum, it's management or it's users

4) if all else fails use a distro that better suits your needs instead of trying to change ours

rant over ... now get a life all of you ... wheres me bacon sarnie!!!!

Kori :D

I couldn't let this pass without comment.  My suggestion: read (and, if possible, think as well) before ranting.

What's done is done. Perhaps we should be a distinct distro and remove sudo from the repository all together.

Bear with me and here's my logic...

Any one can still build it, of course (and I'm not sure how hard or easy that would be because I just need to install it).

If you can build it, it is likely that you have the perseverance and understanding, therefore your sense of responsibility is probably within "sudo-ish".  hash-bang-bin-bash   ;D

If you can't, you most probably don't want it or you don't have the above.

I propose that this thread be locked. It just seems that new posters don't even take the time to read the whole discussion.

I totally agree.  I feel that OP's post says all that needs to said on the subject.
