Time to change to grub2?

At this point in time, I prefer GRUB Legacy. But I am not discounting GRUB2 ... it'll have its time and glory ... just not now.

I remember you had a similar attitude when it came to the transition from KDE 3 to 4? Things move on, and with grub legacy no longer being developed, it is only a matter of time. How long that time is, is another matter!

Like Texstar said... We will wait... I am 100% with him on that. Grub legacy works great - no need to change imho. About KDE3 and KDE4... I still miss KDE3 sometimes .

Like Texstar said... We will wait... I am 100% with him on that. Grub legacy works great - no need to change imho. About KDE3 and KDE4... I still miss KDE3 sometimes .

As a Linux hobbyist, I was able to see a Gnome3.   But
it req'd grub2.   Impressive, with a little bit of color
coordination changes.

If the Gnome people here at PCL can do that eventually
without grub2...   

I take 7 backups a month, PCL stuff, and switch from
partition to partition sometimes.   If Gnome3 requires,
in the future, a grub2 setup...

Well I guess I'll have to remember that.   Only Gnome3
I could find used grub2.  So, considering Gnome3 will
eventually come to PCL the grub vs. grub2 thing might
be a factor.   I like Gnome2 anyway.

There is no correlation between Gnome, (any flavor) and grub. (any flavor) One is a DE, the other a boot loader.

Seeing grub2 used with gnome3 is not evidence of a connection. Grub - legacy or 2 - boots/loads the system. Why would it care which DE is loaded after the system boots? Gnome3 - or any other DE - is loaded/started in an X environment on the system, after it has been booted. It doesn't care what bootloader brought up the system; it uses the system that has been loaded.

Well if a future (linuxgator) PCLgnome3 doesn't mean a mandatory switch to grub2 my
concern is unfounded.
