I had a thought, I probably screwed this up when I installed gnome-color-chooser. I did that so I could customize theme colors which I do a lot. I'm going to look at synaptic's history and remove whatever it added and see if that helps. I'll let you know. btw? is the new .iso going to be announced as 2011.7?  ;D

thanks for your help btw.

I marked this as solved because as it turned out, Texstar was right, Clementine doesn't change with the theme. I did a fresh install and it did the same thing. Wish I would of known before I did it.  :D ;D

I am having some kind of problem with Clementine. When I start it it sits there and says loading songs although I haven't added any as of yet, and when I try to open the preferences it freezes and I have to force quit. any thoughts?

On my computer in preferences - behavior - "always start in main window"
Make that your permanent setting and it behaves fine then.   A little
eccentric I guess.   That's all I did.
