(Solved) Confused about KDE Plasma Themes
« on: June 26, 2011, 02:23:30 AM »
First, I have rarely used KDE so forgive me if this seems like a simple question. I installed a few extra themes to see how I liked them. The problem is, the only thing that changes when I switch themes is the bottom panel. I see in the theme details and they have their own color schemes but the only color I ever see is what is set up in colors in the appearance settings. What am I missing?

Good things come in small packages. From small minds, not so much.

Hey, Louis. I've read the fix in one of the threads but I cannot find it but definitely it's an easy one. Just hang it there.

Edit: Can you try this... http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,70978.msg583325.html#msg583325

May not be for themes but your description shows the same symptoms. Got nothing to lose to try. ;)

Try putting some plasmoids(KDE speak for widgets) on the desktop and you will see more difference. KDE's look is very customisable but it is not all exactly in the one place. You can download window decorations to go with most Plasma Themes and colour schemes. For example head over to kde-look and search for ghost, it is a plasma theme, colour scheme and window decoration style inspired by Ghost in the Shell.  ;D
As far as I know all parts of a theme package need to be downloaded and enabled manualy.

maybe I was confused about what the color scheme that are in the plasma themes do. I thought they would change the color scheme of the windows in things like dolphin also. everything else seems to be drawing correctly.

thanks to you both.  :)

To change colours for Dolphin etc you need to go to Configure Desktop>Common Appearance and Behaviour>Application Appearance>Colours and select or download from there. Have fun customising.

I'll mark this as solved.
