Gosh, you have a picture of my sister!  ::)

LOL, She's gonna be mad at U ::)

Yeah, Mozilla can't crack the whip on independent coders, either they stay updated or they don't.

Wait, I've heard this before. Hey coders, we are changing for changes sake and you better keep up.

I hope they know what they are asking of the coders. If you are made to remake a wheel, you may be better off making it to bolt onto chrome instead.  :-\

I have been using Firefox for as long as it has been around.

Yes, it can be a little annoying when a favorite extension is not available. But if it really matters, I just wait until it is available before updating.

The truth of the matter is  that over time there have been fewer extensions that do not work at changeover and the wait until they are available is much shorter than it used to be.

This time there was only one and I suspect that it will be along shortly.

If you depend on extensions that do not get upgraded quickly, and if the periods of unavailability truly cause disruptions in how you work, maybe you should just find another way to do what you need to do.

It is the nature of extensions on Firefox that they will be upgraded at the convenience of the people who create them.

You simply have to keep this in mind before making any of them a corner stone in how you work.

ThirdOfSix,

Yes, but it is a little ridiculous that Mozilla have gone to V5 in such a small amount of time. It's not fair on add-on coders. Firefox's main selling point is the add-ons.

Village Idiot,

I do not totally disagree with you.

I much prefer the PCLOS way of making a new release only when it is ready.

I have found the frequency of recent changes to Firefox to be a little bit annoying when there does not appear to be a crying need for some of them.

I understand the need for immediate changes due to security concerns but think that major changes that affect lots of extensions should be kept out of these security releases when possible.

It just looks to me like Mozilla is having a bit of a problem in the transition from perceived leader to perceived follower.

I do think that changes are in the wind and that this kind of disruption will be very infrequent in the future.

I hope you all enjoyed the flame war.
You will notice the Original Post, I asked for help on rolling back the change or other remediation suggestions.  There was one mention of an opinion, based in my frustration.  And, as soon as I found my own solution, I posted the result.  Give this a rest.

Dude, on any other forum you'd have virtually guaranteed a real "flame war". This didn't even come close. This might be the only place on the internet that such an over exaggeration as "Firefox 5.0 destroyed my browser experience" and "many *YEARS* worth of configuration" (of firefox??? years--really??)

Then come to find out you're actually talking about one add-on which you just couldn't find the update for.

Dude, To be honest with you, take the lesson offered here and now... Before you post, take a deep breath, count to ten, and clearly state you problem without the attitude and emotion and I feel very confident everyone here will be more than willing to help you resolve any problme you might have with zero flame wars... I've seen it more times than I care to count.

Just a suggestion

Browsers are just tools, change to other brand

I ditch MS IE, for Opera, then left Opera for Flock, Flock was flaky on some things and that brought me to Firefox, probably I will leave Firefox for... let's see .... I don't know but probably I will change it. Oh yes, I tried many others  ;D

Is my personal way of saying "is not you, it's me. Lets just be friends" to the internet browsers  ;)
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

After updating to 5.0-5, German localization (firefox-de) 5.0-2 doesn't work anymore, so everything's in English.

EDIT: Disabling and enabling the language pack didn't work either.
