HI
I have a new copy of MINIME on DVD that I am planning to install on the hard disc.
The only thing I can get is Dial-Up so I need KPPP.
Is there a way I can download a KPPP package off the net with a friends computer and make a
install CD for MINIME? How do I make it? Where do I find Kppp download page?
MiniMe on DVD? It only takes a little more than half the space of a CD.
To answer your question, some ppp packages are already installed on MiniMe. But the kdenetwork4-ppp and kdenetwork4-ppp-provider packages are not installed. You'd need to install MiniMe to a hard drive on a machine that can access the internet from an ethernet or wireless connection. You'd then need to follow the KDE, Xorg and apt upgrade paths to arrive at a currently updated system. This is accomplished by using the Synaptic package manager provided with MiniMe,
not by downloading packages from websites. You should also install one of the more current kernels. A bfs one would be the most logical choice. You could then mark the missing kppp packages for installation. I doubt if they'd work correctly by just installing the current ones directly to the 2010.12 MiniMe version.
After doing all that, you'd need to create a remastered iso from your installation. You would use the remastered iso to burn a new installation CD for your friend's use. Any questions?
