Did you try typing startx then pressing enter after you login with the terminal ?
Yes I have and it seems to end up stopping after some sort of error(s).
Some sort of errors means
nothing to the rest of us. The
actual error messages tell you
why the X server didn't start. Knowing why it didn't start leads to a
solution; either simple configuration, or driver change.
If you don't understand what the error messages mean, it's almost certain someone here will know, but we
can't see the error messages.
You have to observe, and report the
exact messages so that
we can see what you see.
