Openbox full VS Openbox Bonsai
« on: June 18, 2011, 08:36:19 AM »
Hi,

Just a little word to say that the new full and bonsai could give each other their panels : in Openbox full I intend to make lxpanel the default (with tint2 still installed and pre-configured to make it easy to switch them in the autostart.sh file), and in the Bonsai there might be only the tint2 panel.

Then no more shutdown-dialog.py button in Bonsai : and I'll remove python and it's depends (including Bleachbit, yes... but cleaning without bleachbit, is a small version, is not that difficult).

This might avoid a gain of weight due to the latest updates.

If you don't like the idea, let me know (and if you like it it's also ok to say :D )
Thanks,
Mélodie

Whatever works for the panel is fine. Can you use bleachbit, then uninstall it, before creating bonsai? I don't think it needs to be on a small version. Did you get any takers for new graphics?

Hi Galen
Yes, it is possible but I don't need it. I know the places which can be cleaned, and they are more numerous than what Bleachbit does. I leave it and use it only in the full version, where python (one of it's depends) is needed anyhow. If I have to remove all of it's depends after cleaning it's much more work...

In the case someone wants to make a file server or whatever server out of it, they would have more to remove... so I wish to continue keeping it minimal. The other users will have to install many more packages anyhow (ie : alsaconf needs python... )

I haven't asked but Timeth sent me a pm to ask if we were going to make a new theme for Openbox. :)
Should we ask for a different theme for Openbox Bonsai ?

I think that a unique wallpaper should be enough of a distinction, but I'm no artist. ;D (By the way, I still love the name, Bonsai!)
