That's really weird... I am using a 3G Huawei modem and it works out of the box + I never needed to setup the usb_modeswitch in the first place. Just plug / setup via drakconnect / and play ;).

Andy

The Huawei  (at least the one that I have) cannot be used as a storage device only as a wireless modem.

Hi, i installed pclinux last night and my 3g dongle worked ootb ,
in wvdial you have to edit the script in /etc/wvdial (or something like this , not having wvdial atm)
choose dev/ttyUSB0 for the modem type ,pps for user name and password, and use : *99***1# for phone no.
save and run wvdial and you will be connected , you can run wvdial from the terminal also.
You can set up using drakconnect ,just choose the modem type (dev/ttyUSB0) and put "pps" for user name and password, and if pin no. is activated ,put your sim pin no.
