Sleep and Hibernate have stopped working since update
« on: June 17, 2011, 12:14:56 AM »
Since a recent update (Not sure which as it has been a few weeks since I have used these facilities) both Sleep and Hibernate has stopped working. Clicking on them just seems to do nothing at all.
Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.
Asus M4A78LT-M LE AMD 760G Socket AM3  with Integrated ATI Radeon 3000 2 Gb RAM, KDE.

Bump, done latest updates still no sleep or hibernate. Shame PCLinuxos was the first to do this reliably until now.

What happens if you run following in the terminal:
Code: [Select]
pm-suspend

Yeh try that. I don't have time to look at this right now. Maybe next month.

Laters,
Tex

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Hi rubentje1991 thanks for the reply.
If I do pm-suspend from a terminal is goes into sleep mode. It will then start up just fine.
If I do pm-hibernate it starts to hibernate and then comes back to where it was within a couple of seconds

What Desktop Environment are you using? (KDE / Gnome / Enlightenment / ....?)

Hi yes its KDE

I'm using KDE too...
=> suspending to RAM via the menu does work here (I still have to do the updates of the last couple of days)

I'll bookmark this thread, and when I've done the new updates, I'll check again, and report

Just tested before updating:
Hibernating via KDE menu does work (however just rebooting is faster on this machine I think  ;D)

However, running
Code: [Select]
pm-hibernate=> does not work (it seems it wants to go hibernating, but then comes back to desktop....)

OK; updated now -- hibernating still works, and suspending too [just tested  :)]

This is from my laptop Medion MD97860 (P7612);
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.10Ghz, 4 GB SDRAM, Nvidia Geforce G210M, 500GB HD
PCLinuxOS 2010.12 KDE fully up to date (2011-06-21), with SWAP >= 2x RAM-size

Sleeping does work via Fn+F2 (moon-button  8)), and via the KDE Menu... (also suspending to disk [hibernating])

So, I think it's not a general problem (it still works over here, so....)
Is PCLinuxOS the only installed OS on your system (maybe there is still a hibernate-image in the SWAP from another OS???)

Hi I have puppy 5.25 and arch but have not done a hibernate with either of them so i assume no image.
At least I can sleep via desktop script.

Maybe following thread is helpful
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,88158.0.html

cpufreq is active (I looked in PCC),
powersave is not installed over here.... (maybe I should do, because it's a laptop  ???)

EDIT: now running PCLinuxOS kernel 2.6.38.8 (but it works too with 2.6.24.x)
