built-in mike not working
« on: June 16, 2011, 04:31:33 PM »
I have a Lenovo B560 laptop with the Intel ‎5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio soundcard, using the ALSA "snd_hda_intel" driver (also identified as HDA Intel: ALC259 Analog by Audacity). I originally installed PCLOS 2010 and have since done a complete upgrade, so theoretically all the software is now current. The built-in mike has never worked, regardless of which audio application I've tried (nor has the audio input jack), but the audio output is fine. I'm currently using QasMixer, and no matter how I set the mic or capture levels, the best I've been able to get is static.

Yes, I'm a complete noob...so please be kind to me. I really love PCLOS, but I still need some help solving this issue.

have you tried alsomixer...from the konsole, and play with options, there might be something muted.. doesnt have to be a slider .. becos it is active is the bottom is green... and you do that with the arrow and M key
Office required Windows XP or better, so I installed PCLinuxOS :D

Alsamixer was the first mixer I tried and had no luck with it, either. I don't know enough about working in Konsole yet, so I haven't tried that approach. So, for the moment, I'm using my Logitech USB web cam with its own mike for Skype...it works perfectly. But I'll keep on slogging away, trying whatever suggestions other forum members offer.
