Upgrade Killed GUI Log In (Solved)
« on: June 16, 2011, 07:02:13 AM »
I was having some problems yesterday, I think I had a corrupted kernel. anyway, I performed a fresh install, and updated. Took 747 updates this time. When it got finished, I shut her down and went to bed. Got up this morning and started up, booted on the PAE kernel. Got to the log in screen, and could not log in. All I got was "log in failed." Had to go to console log in, and got up that way. So, rebooted, tried again. Same thing. Any ideas?

Try updating to the latest kernel 2.6.38.8 and KDE4.6.4, if you haven't already.
Using Linux for over 18 years and still counting.

Tried that, went ahead and reinstalled, fixed it. Must have been something in my Home folder that was corrupted.
