[SOLVED] XFCE 4.8 - Numlock problem

Guys,

I read about this somewhere in this forum but cant seem to find the thread.

Anyone knows how to get rid of / workaround this XFCE 4.8 numlock on problem?

I have tried going into pcc.

Does it not simply need turning off the first time you boot your new install and then, after that, it stays as you expect?
On my XFCE systems, that is what I did and the numlock issue hasn't re-appeared.

where did you turn it off ?

On the systems which were mentioned in the thread, the numlock was on F11 and we simply toggled it off. But those machines were all little netbooks.... Is yours a desktop or something?

Its an Asus Laptop - K43U. There is a separate insert/numlock key.

Is there any xfce conf settings that i need to edit?

open the xfce4 settings editor from the menu (not the settings manager)
In the left panel, named Channel, click on the "keyboards" entry
In the right panel click the plus sign next to the Default property.
You should see a Numlock property - the value here needs to be "TRUE"
 if it isn't double click the word TRUE and a dialog bog will appear.
Click the "enabled" check box to put a check mark in it and then click save.
It should now read "TRUE" (you may have to click the plus sign again to see this).
You will have to log out or reboot for it to work - can't remember which, can't check right now.

On my older Asus A6JC laptop, the Numlock key is "blue". Therefore, simply requires holding the 'Fn' key when pressing the Ins/NumLk key to toggle on/off. Required toggle off at 1st login (messed up password) but no further interaction required-setting must get remembered.

Thanx critter. Numlock state is remembered now, even after rebooting,etc.
