What is it w/ Broadcom?
« on: June 14, 2011, 12:48:09 PM »
2010.12 KDE on two laptops.

compaq Presario C500 - when first setting up w/l, networks show only home at very low link level whereas usually all the neighbors show up as well. Once I set it up all seems well.

Toshiba a300 series - ethernet is id as eth0 and w/l is identified as eth1 but works fine.

Whatever the gang is doing, these Broadcom w/l devices are working with no ndiswrapper or work arounds whereas other distros don't.

Compliments!

Which Broadcom device do you have?

The BCM 4318 works great with the b43 module in my laptop and the signal strength has always been pretty strong.  Also it seems to work well with a weak signal.
