Little love with KDE and Intel HD audio 828011
« on: June 13, 2011, 12:14:31 AM »
Tonight after downloading and burning both the KDE version and gnome version of PC Linux, i have noticed that in KDE the ntel Corporation|82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller does not want to play very nice in the sense that even turned up the output audio is not very loud, i have the Dell Vostro 1015 i have looked high and low and i am guessing this is a issue with just KDE? i ask as i am now running the live cd for gnome and cranked up the volume and mic boost then ran skype and my wife was saying i was blowing her away with the sound :D WOOHOOO heh heh. Honestly this is not too much of a issue, as i was trying to decide if i wanted gnome or kde flavour (as i love the kden live movie maker). But i am curious for a future date if i want to try KDE, is there a specific download i need? or has anyone else noticed a difference in audio between Kde and Gnome?

Toshiba Satellite A305 with same chipset. I had to open console, run alsamixer, select either F5 to show all. Then noticed speaker volume was way down. Kicked it up and seems ok now. There are other threads about this issue and having to modify one of the sound files in /etc/modprobe.d but can't find the post right now.

Hope this helps

Thought I had a sound problem with my dell 1545 went through all the forum post nothing.  Then came across one that simply said right click the volume and try all the options.  It was set to master by default I set it to speaker and now it blows me away imagine how dumb I felt lol.

Very often that the 'speaker' channel is nearly completely down...
=> please try to turn it up -- and you'll be blown away too  ;D
