Thanks darkages, but this is KDE, not XFCE.

We know that ...... please try the ISO to see if you get any problems.

I have tried the test iso. I installed as another OS on the stick and
logged in as KDE persistent.
No problems except everything being much slower that I have been used to with PCLos.
Of course, Synaptic said there were no updates, so couldn't try that.
No problem setting locale, adding another user, setting to no automatic boot.
Tried Set up boot system where I had the sda10 error before, and was told
No bootloader found, creating a new configuration.
I then cancelled out of this.

Trying to Restart/Shut Down pc.
Select Leave - Restart or Leave - Shutdown and nothing happens.
Have been waiting over 5 minutes since issuing the command.

This thing should be a sticky "How to Upgrade from XFCE 4.6 to XFCE 4.8"

I installed of the latest  pclinux phoenix livecd (march 2011) and did regular updates. I thought i got xfce 4.8 but no. I needed to add the xfce to the repo section to get xfce 4.8.

This is a little quirky. i also have a box with lxde - Do we need to 'lxde' to the the repo section as well?

Reply from Texstar
LXDE is fairly stable. XFCE 4.8 has some bugs I don't like. When they are fixed, the XFCE 4.8 packages will be moved into updates. Being the nice guy that I am I put the 4.8 packages up in a separate area for those who might want to use them fully aware they might not be 100% ready for primetime.

Could this have anything to do with my problems ?
