I tried upgrading an AMD dualcore CPU, ATI GFX (4xxxxHD and Manhattan 5xxxxHD dual card) KDE4-FM laptop to the latest pclos64.bfs kernel from the standard install bfs kernel.
DKMS comes up with a "too many fglrx drives don't know what to do" error. I have tried things in various threads but they just got the open scource drivers to work, I have no 3D and KDE wants to remove and forget the HDMI and HD audio devices.
I have also noticed that XFdrake no longer has a "test" button.
I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the proprietary drivers, dkms and X11, followed by running XFdrake. Upon reboot I get stuck on a "Detecting new hardware" I left it running for an hour and nothing.
I think that it maybe because I foolishly installed the ATI drivers from the ATI website as well as from the repo. I can't find the website version to get rid of it.
I had not used a computer with a 3d card before.
