Can't use 'alien'
« on: June 08, 2011, 10:26:35 AM »
For quite a while now, every time I try to run alien to convert a .deb file to an .rpm file, I get the same error output from BASH: "rpmbuild; no such command".. Does anyone know what's going on??  I've used alien before and it worked fine, so this must be a relatively new problem..  Is there something else I can use?? I don't see anything listed in the repo.

Open Synaptic. Find the package named "rpm-build". Mark it for installation, then install it.

Thanks--I knew I was missing something..I had tried a synaptic search for rpmbuild, but it didn't occur to me to try separating the words..
