Hi.

Yesterday I've done all things included in method given by AndrzejL. Once on PCLinuxOS 2010.12 Minime with 'mkinitrd ... ', and the second one on PCLinuxOS 2010.12 LXDE without 'miniktrd ... '. Works fine, DE is a bit faster ...

Code: [Select]
[marcin@localhost ~]$ glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh.  The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
424 frames in 5.0 seconds = 84.749 FPS
426 frames in 5.0 seconds = 84.997 FPS
425 frames in 5.0 seconds = 84.804 FPS
425 frames in 5.0 seconds = 84.998 FPS
426 frames in 5.0 seconds = 85.004 FPS
420 frames in 5.0 seconds = 83.997 FPS

Thanks Andy ;]

I've upgraded kernel from 2.6.38.7 to 2.6.38.8 - it don't disturbs working of ATI driver :)

I noticed this as well.  Boot seems a touch faster and response seems a touch faster as well once the DE loads.  Also glad to see that some people have confirmed that the work is not undone by a kernel update.

Should I go back and redo the instructions that have been updated, or would I still be fine based off of what was originally posted?  (May be a moot point as I am thinking of redoing partitions anyhow in order to set up a testing partition so I can contribute to the community a bit.)

You can count on it. Unless Tex comes up with an even better solution. ;D

The solution is really easy to apply guys. I am not sure if but this can possibly be scripted and added to the drakx11 tool...

finally had time to try it

folowed steps except reconfigure video card

added the radeon and modeset lines in the right places

fix worked with some problems

each boot the monitor goes out of sync for 10 seconds more or less, this old crt feels like it is going to break or explode

compiz is working again but it has some problems with some effects, will try to reconfigure them but nothing seems to fix the problems, small details but are there

glxgears is giving this weird numbers

359 frames in 5.0 seconds = 71.605 FPS
372 frames in 5.0 seconds = 74.183 FPS
373 frames in 5.0 seconds = 74.426 FPS

this was before the fix(and before the xorg update numbers were very similar)

3502 frames in 5.0 seconds = 700.356 FPS
3605 frames in 5.0 seconds = 720.805 FPS
3563 frames in 5.0 seconds = 712.499 FPS

google earth is working and was working before

i just tried a game and system died completely, rewriting this reply(lost in the reset)  :-\

if anything more is required, let me know how i can help
