did you also downgrade the libs?  There are some libs that match up with udev..

edit: I downgraded udev and it's associated libs, and still have weiner ISOs.. I'll stop at 4 frizbees until the issue is resolved.

Hi,

No I haven't. So I will look at this carefully. For the latest udev, here is a list:

Quote
# rpm -qR -i -v udev
rpmlib(VersionedDependencies) <= 3.0.3-1
coreutils
setup
util-linux-ng
ldetect-lst
/bin/sh
/bin/sh
/bin/sh
/bin/sh
rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1
rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1
libacl.so.1
libc.so.6
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1.1)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1.2)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2.3)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3.4)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.4)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.6)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.7)
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.8)

libusb-0.1.so.4

Summary     : A userspace implementation of devfs
Description :
Udev is an implementation of devfs/devfsd in userspace using sysfs and
/sbin/hotplug. It requires a 2.6 kernel to run properly.

Like devfs, udev dynamically creates and removes device nodes from /dev/.
It responds to /sbin/hotplug device events.

I will look if the list is the same at the preceeding 156-5 udev version. I also just looked at libusb-0.1.so.4  wondering if it would not have needed an update, to keep up with the latest udev version. The package it belongs to is libusb-compat0.1_4-0.1.3-2pclos2010 which can be downloaded here : http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusb/develop

There seem not to be any new stable package since this one which is the latest available.

Are you saying you didn't have more success than for the previous iso ? Have you said what kernel is in the system ?

PS: I don't use CD's, but the excellent PCLinuxOS Live USB program made by Just19, to install fast and nicely to USB pendrive as my machines all boot to USB.

I had backed down to the previous udev and all associate libs for udev. Even backed down the kernel, and then back to latest kernel with no good results.  I've since reinstalled lastest udev, along with latest kernel.  Funny thing is, it's booting just fine in VBox as installed, no problems there, it's only when I remaster that the problems begin. so, what is the difference between what is installed and working, and what gets put in the ISO, and why it's not working..  ???

Not sure whether this will help - probably not - but I just noticed a new mylivecd in the repos

mylivecd (0.9.3-16pclos2011) to 0.9.3-17pclos2011
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.4; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.4.38bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

I downgraded mylivecd to the earlier version.  Fixed the 4 errors that popped up when I tried to run it, then started it again. Hopefully??
It's running just fine this time.

Hi,

I (re)updated everything to the last versions : kernel 2.6.38.8, udev, mylivecd, now the machine started compressing the files. It will take some time, so I'll probably see the result later tomorrow, over night, and will come back report about it as soon as possible.

Regards, Mélodie

I too am having this same problem.  I am running an up to date system with the most recent "mylivecd" and I still get the same udev error with a notation that /usr/bin/vmmouse_detect failed at boot.  The mouse and keyboard do not work in either virtualbox or in a physical machine.
Desktop:  AMD 3.6ghz X4, Gigabyte MB, 8GB ram, Multiple PCLOS's, 2.6.38.8-pclos3.pae.bfs
Server: Intel 3.4ghz X2, 4GB RAM, SATA, gnome2, *.pae.bfs, Headless, Servers: LAMP, FTP, Samba, Print, PXE, BT
HTPC: Phenom II X4 2.8ghz, 4GB Ram, 1TB SATA, PCLinuxOS-KDE, NVIDIA N220GT HDMI, *.pae.bfs

Despite the new mylivecd, still no luck.

Hi nixer,

I have seen this message too during the boot, as well as the same message as uggy's :

First line of text seen while booting is "acpi aborted because no cpio magic".

When i get to kb select, kb or mouse no work?

Have you found the mylivecd version 0.9.3-17pclos2011 that menotu has said about ? I start being worried if you also failed with the newest one ?!

Good night, (evening for some of you... or even morning... )

okay, I remastered with the old mylivecd corrected to the latest udev libs... it is now failing at mounting loopfs.  So, would remastering with --ufs make a difference here?

Yes, it is - and the kitchen sink, too.  :D

if I remember correctly that failure can occur using the wrong compression on some kernel or using an ext4 formatted USB stick and a very old (3 months...) mylivecd version.

--ufs require option unionfs or aufs it's only a different layered filesystem, doesn't make any difference on a read-only media.

I had been allowing to choose it's own compression based on the kernel.. I had even remastered several times with the older mylivecd and the 2.6.38.2 kernel not using any options at all.  So compression doesn't seem to be the factor.  I am no longer getting the 'aborted no cpio image' error at boot, and it's going just fine until 'loopfs' that it can't find.  Media check says the ISO is fine, so bad burn is out too.

We will eventually triumph over this obstacle if only we keep it up.. lol
