[SOLVED] Random working, not working touchpad
« on: July 20, 2011, 03:06:51 AM »
I got a Acer Aspire One 150 ZG5, a.k.a AOA 150, here but with every version of PcLinuxOs 2011.X (KDE, LXDE and Xfce) after i start up the netbook my touchpad works or doesn't work and it's happening random at the login screen. One time it does, the other few times not. A usb mouse plugged in works flawless by the way.

I tried every given solution from Texstars touchpad problems/solution topic (the last solution even was mine), last night i even had help on IRC from hootiegibbon, JohnW_57 and Kurdistan where i tried to reinstall x11-driver-input-synaptics and replaced the 50-synaptics.conf file again. It worked and kept working after a few reboots and complete shutdowns..... until now this very morning. All i could do is press the power button to shut it down again, after the 4th time the touchpad works again. But however... it's a returning problem which is giving me enough headaches at the moment.

Xinput resulted in this:

I checked the BIOS also and it's still the latest available for the ZG5. I hope we can try and find a final solution for this problem.

No one has any thoughts on this? Don't want to end up installing another distro here but rather find a solution for it.

Ok, made a final decision. I keep PcLinuxOs running on the netbook and will use the usb mouse instead until the problem hopefully solves itself one day.

Thanks Neal, it's very appreciated.

I've been pondering on about the problem...... Could it be that somehow that specific touchpad driver isn't loaded a few times and after a while it is loaded?

Do you know which driver it is? Have you tried reinstalling it?

There's something you ask me... LOL!  :D

Up to now i do not really know what driver it is. But....... i tried to install the Touchpad Toggle just in case a workaround as you told me. Also i tried to press the Fn button and then the F7 button twice because the touchpad wasn't working again half an hour ago when i started up the netbook. Now it seems to work but will try it again if it occurs.

So... as it looks Fn and F7 seems to activate the touchpad now at the login screen. Fingers crossed.
