800*600 to 1024*768 ( solved )
« on: June 03, 2011, 05:04:58 AM »
I am using Openbox Bonsai on a Toshiba Satellite 4060 XCDT , Openbox is the only one that runs at a good speed . I have the same problem though that I have with other distros , The resolution stays at 800*600 when the control centre shows 1024*768 . I ran xrandr in console and it does not show 1024*768 as an option .
I copied this from Post #90 of " Do you want to test thread "
quote
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 4096 x 4096
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm
   1280x800       60.0*+
   1024x768       85.0     75.0     70.1     60.0
   832x624        74.6
   800x600        85.1     72.2     75.0     60.3     56.2
   640x480        85.0     72.8     75.0     59.9
   720x400        85.0
   640x400        85.1
   640x350        85.1
TV1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) quote

My display says " xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default " and the maximum size of screen is shown as 800*600 .
I do not know how to get a screen shot on OB and if I did I cannot open My Documents folder .
Apart from that I like OB , It even uses a ZyXel cardbus forthe Wi-Fi .
What is the most up to date distro of Openbox Full ? I could not download Full from the PCLinuxos Site and I am happy with this ( apart from screen size ) .

I know the problem, I also have an old Toshiba Sattelite but PCLOS OpenBox/Bonsai gives the right screen resolution. The problem occured when using Debian-based distro's. That was actually the reason for trying out PCLOS.
PCLOS LXDE (Desktop 1)
Debian 6 (Desktop 2)
PCLOS OpenBox Bonsai (11 year old laptop)
XP (at work :s)

Welcome in a world without walls and fences, who needs windows and gates ?

I have a Toshiba 4090XDVD running PCLOS OpenBox/Bonsai. To get a 1024x768 full screen resolution, you need to go into the control center and change your video card configuration from 1024*768*24 bit to 1024*768*16 bit.  The LCD is limited to 16bit video @ max resolution. If you want 32bit full screen then you have to drop to 800*600*24.

I had OpenBox running on my Toshiba the other day and I could not get My Documents to open either. Good Luck!  :)
