Guys,

I just got a new Asus K43U-VX006 with the AMD Radeon HD6310M graphic chip.
I get the this watermark on the bottom right of the screen.

After googling, i understand that its a catalyst driver ( or some  /etc/ati/control problem which i dont think i have) problem. The amd driver with the latest pclinux-xfce is older ( amd catalyst 10.12 ?) and so i am tempted to download the linux amd catalyst 11.5 driver from the amd website.

Any thoughts? Any success stories here ?

Thanx.
Marco.

The amd fglrx driver in the repository is the latest version so no need to run anything from the AMD site. That will just screw up your system.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

GUYS THE WATERMARK IS GONE!!!!!

I used the new kernel 2.6.38  and rebooted and .... the watermark "AMD Unsupported Hardware" disappeared ....the ATI Catalyst Control Center is working well too.

Hope this helps the next guy out.

So overall , this ASUS Laptop ( K43U - VX006 ) is working well with pclinux xfce ( phoenix )  - including video , audio , network ,etc.

Bye,
Marco.

Excellent  8),

Just one thing though; I notice your card is quoted as an HD series card, these are for desktop machines not laptops.

What does the hardware section of the PCC identify your card as? (just curiosity now)

Bare Metal 1         Bare Metal 2
Intel Celeron 420M   Intel i5 540M
2GB Ram              4GB Ram
Intel 943GM          Radeon HD 5650 PCI Express
