Remastering KDE Mini Edition 2010
« on: June 01, 2011, 05:25:44 PM »
Hello,
I am currently remastering the KDE Mini Edition 2010 so I can create LSF OS, I have gotten a good deal done but have hit a impass, I have copied the .KDE4 folder from root to etc/skel and made sure to remove phonondevicesrc so my sound card would not carry over to the new install. The issue I am encountering is that once the install is done on another PC they get Kwin crashes. This is making me think I have copied to much into etc/skel. I was wondering if anyone could give me a breakdown of what exactly needs to be copied into etc/skel and what should not be copied to avoid issues like I am encountering.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.  :)

I thought I should give yall more info about the OS I am making, it will be for the Linux Screenshots Forum, I am gearing towards artists since my forum centers around that topic. I chose PCLinuxOS KDE Mini edition for several reasons. I felt it was a very stable base to use, the KDE DE is mature and should not see any major changes like say Gnome and is user friendly and intuitive to use.
Another note is I know Texstar does a great job at keeping packages up to date and avoids regression or breakage when creating his packages. I will be keeping the OS %100 compatible with PCLinuxOS rep's as well. Hope this helps explain what I am doing better.  :)

Log in to your root account and make sure kwin desktop effects are not enabled. And also neopmuk is not enabled either as well.

I will email you my current .kde4 folder that goes into /etc/skel so you can compare the files. Don't use it though as it contains my custom settings not yours. :D

Hi Texstar,
I am home and I logged in as root and verified I have kwin desktop effects turned off and nepomuk service was turned off as well so those 2 were not the issue.
