I regret to inform you guys that I've hit an obstacle and would be dropping e107 CMS, which was what I was installing. Apparently, in the course of uploading the files to the free hosting server in preparation for the test run, I was using FileZilla to FTP. I have set FileZilla to keep-alive and retry as I left it unattended. In returning to the FTP session, there were several failed transfers so I re-queue those files and resume the transfers.

OK so my log was clean and I thought everything was sent through. While having the countdown, I have the CMS renamed to 1ndex.php (a little trick I came up with) so I can do some initial configuration and tests while there's time remaining on the clock. Well, everything was in order, I got the theme up, registration enabled, the nav menu was as it was on my localhost ... and I've even managed to set filetype permissions, members-only uploads/downloads but I noticed the headers on the admin panel was a little different and instead of icons, I got all these {} curly brackets with PHP codes and darn I should fix that by comparing files on my localhost and the server's - on my localhost there are 2,251 files and 282 sub-folders just for e107! How the heck am I gonna look for that file.

I had to calm down and think logically... admin would be a good place to start. Back to FileZilla and whoa! it was worse than I thought. There were several 0 bytes and there were missing files! That's messed up! And a good day's work in the dumps was a bit frustrating for me but I am not just about to give up.

I am giving up on FileZilla for now. I am resetting the countdown clock and adding another day to "do my thing" and will get all these done ... or I ain't posting again!

Try gftp instead of filezilla.

Oh, what a shame. To have worked so hard and then hit obstacles at the last minute. Take your time mate. Quality takes time  ;)

Archie,

It's pretty much the same with gFTP, Neal... but things are moving along. I am instead using the host's available web apps. e107 would have been nice.

First test site, point your browser to http://pclosart.packagecloud.com/test1 <-- I will need testers. Admins will have to be selected later. The site is running BigAce 2.7.5.

Second test site is still installing and it will run on Joomla 1.5.22. There will most definitely be a third and I haven't decided which one yet but most probably it will be Gallery 3.

Would it be possible for Sproggy to upload it to his web space?
=> because you like that e107 so much Archie....

(but that's an offering only Sproggy can give, I don't have any usable web space at the moment)

I suppose Kori can do that but my plan was to test then choose then Kori can do his stuff. I know he's very busy at the moment and I cannot trouble him for this mundane testing.

Joomla is up and I've scaled it like a fish and did a bit of tweaking and configuring but it is far from what it could be and what it could do. The test site is http://pclosart.packagecloud.com/test2

**EDIT**
It looks like Gallery3 won't happen. Collaboration will be a little hard to follow on that web app. Gonna look for another. By the way, I tried TikiWiki again and I think it will be hard for the members to use the wiki markups instead of dialog boxes with icons. Just my opinion.

**EDIT**  **EDIT**
In place of Gallery3, I installed Coppermine on Test 3 just to see how a gallery would compare with CMS.

Please note that the three sites are ONLY TEST SITES. It will need testers who would post their feedbacks on this thread. Also note that the webspace used by the 3 test sties is only limited to 100MiB. What are we testing? How easy is it to use the web app by posting an imaginary project/cooperating with an imaginary artist/uploading and downloading art/commenting/viewing/etc.

Which member registration should we apply? Email verification or by admin approval? There should also be a procedure (or rule) in place to hold the project together. There are several things we still need to straighten out before we can call ourselves a group.

Good people, test the sites and give us your feedbacks.

A quick summary: All three sites need registration (which will all be deleted after the test runs). Test 1 site is manual registration and default member level should be enough to get most task done. Test 2 site registration via email verification and should be OK for the members to get most task done. Test 3 site is a gallery and requires registration via email verification to get "full member privileges" (guest can only view thumbnails and cannot view the larger images).

Well, so much for free hosting!

I have contacted support at onlinegroups dot net to see what could be done to free up some of the space left by uninstalled APIs. Watch this space for development.
