Alacarte - In 4.8 Won't Start - No Attribute Startswith - Missing Python Files

Alacarte shows a no attribute startswith - something do with missing python files in 4.8.

Does any one know how to get the GNOME main menu editor to run in XFCE 4.8?
Is there a fix for it?
