Hi, I'm back with another  ???
I have some *.avi files that I would like to rip the sound tracks of for use on my new cell phone.(.mp3)  GUI based and user friendly a big plus.
The closest I've got so far is using Audacity.  It gave me a usable .mp3, but is not stereo.  Just mono.  I had no luck with Handbrake.  I did a search, and it looks like most I've seen were command line.  So, I thought, ask my forum friends witch ones they prefer.  Any suggestions are more than appreciated.
Goal:
Rip sound track from *.avi to *.mp3.
Your favorite (easy to use) program.
Thanks for your time, Dan  ;D

ZX80,

You may wanna give WinFF a try. Load in the AVI file, convert to Audio, and select the MP3. This will extract the entire audio of the AVI file, which you can then load into Audacity and cut snippets from to your heart's content.

Hope this helps!

try to use "Transcoder Audio Edition", its in the repository.

It description reads

Transcoder Audio Edition is a audio converter for Linux which can convert from one
audio format into another and can extract audio tracks from video files and convert
them into audio formats. It uses GTK+ as GUI toolkit and ffmpeg as backend.

PACPL -it's in the repo

after install just right click on the file and go to actions>pacpl-convert

ZX80,

Don't overlook command line solutions, like the one that Archie mentioned above.

Often times, the command line solution is easier and faster than one that has a GUI.

The solution I mentioned ... using WinFF ... is exactly what Archie's command is doing, but via the command line. WinFF **is** running the command that Archie gave.
