enable jack plugging

I'm using Nvidea HDA with Phonon for my sound.  I'd like my audio out to mute when plugging in headphones but not sure where to configure this.  Do I need to place a command somewhere in Phonon config? something like:

Anyone familiar with this, a tip would be much appreciated
